The Taylor cottages are typical Cape cottages from the 1950s when local materials were popular and abundant. Just 3/10 mile from Nauset Light Beach, the cottages are inside the boundaries of the Cape Cod National Seashore and subject to Seashore laws limiting changes that would alter the appearance of the Cape as it used to be.. They are basic vacation cabins, true to the era when the Seashore was founded and time froze along the back shore of the Outer Cape. Since then, time and tides have moved the beach closer to these little cottages and the protective hands of men have moved Nauset Light off the bluff to a safer spot just down the road. For those attending continuing ed seminars at the Cape Cod Insttute, these handy little residences are just half mile from the high school campus. It is 1.5 miles from the cottages to the Rail Trail, from which one can hike or bike for pleasure or travel through all or part of65 Cape towns branching off at one of may frequent intersections onto town roads that lead to shopping and beaches.
The cottages are listed as Taylor #700 and Taylor #730. 730 Cable Rd. has a painted interior. It has living room, separate kitchen, 2 bedrooms (queen and 2 twins) updated bath, and screened porch. It also has a dishwasher but does not have laundry facilities. Both cottages have outside shore showers, and both allow dogs for an additional nonrefundable fee of $100/dog/week.
The National Seashore has its own rules which differ from town zoning. Trenching is not allowed. This means the telephone lines cannot be buried, so there are no digital phone cables. Nor is personal cable allowed, so there is no cable TV orcable WiFi within the CCNS boundaries. The Taylor cottages do not have TV, phones, or WiFi.
